After Seventeen Years, We Still Miss Kurt Cobain

Its not really an exaggeration to say hearing the news of Kurt Cobains death is the Generation X version of Where were you when John F. Kennedy was shot? Personally, I was in my living room watching MTV like I did every day after school my sophomore year of high school and watched Kurt Loder deliver the news, presumably right as it was released to the public. As a fifteen-year-old who was obsessed with alternative music, corduroy, and used cardigans, I was Cobains demographic and the news stung.

Today marks the seventeenth (!) anniversary of Cobains death and in his honor, we dug up some clips from the week that he passed away. Its some serious MTV nostalgia, and it still gives us chills to watch. In the clip above, watch as Loder delivers the shocking news of Cobains death. After the jump you can watch additional extended footage from MTV News (God, I miss the Week In Rock) with reaction from Henry Rollins, a clip of Courtney Love tearfully reading portions of Cobains suicide note to his fans, and the NBC Nightly News report from the night of his death.

R.I.P.
